South Asian Diversity Network

Minesh Dattani

Security Operations Manager

"Simply Business has enabled me, to be the real Minesh, in every way possible. Whether that's celebrating a Hindu festival in the office or wearing traditional Indian clothes to an awards ceremony! There's no glass ceilings here for people of ethnic backgrounds, I've been given the freedom to build up new functions within the organisation with full autonomy and trust. What I especially love about Simply Business is that everyone is interested in different cultures. We regularly hold Level Ups and get togethers within the South Asian Diversity Network, and people from all walks of life join us to learn and share. It's a truly special environment and makes you proud to be who you are."

Black Diversity Network

Having a network within Simply Business that I can relate with means the world to me. I’ve never worked in an organisation that recognises and appreciates the differences in people and allows safe spaces to be created so that we can be supported. Through 2020, working remotely and witnessing global trauma, I couldn’t have been more than thankful to have the Black Diversity Network. BDN was created as a space for an underrepresented group two years ago, and since then we have held great talks within the group but also the wider business to encourage transparency in conversations to help shape a better and more inclusive work space.

LGBTQ+ Network

James Brumpton

Junior DevOps Engineer

"I'm so grateful to work in an environment and with a team that really values me and respects my identity. After a decade in my career I can say that for the first time I am working somewhere where I know that I can bring my authentic self to work. And what's important is those around me realise that it doesn't just have a positive impact on me but everyone. We support one other and that allows us to bring our best selves to work each and every single day."

Gender Diversity Network

Julia Studholme

Cyber Security Analyst

" I feel proud to be working in a business which puts diversity and inclusion at the forefront of what we do. Women in tech is a priority within our department and we're working with an inspiring management team who are passionate about creating the best possible experience for us"

Women in Tech

Erica Barbato

Engineering Manager - Data Science

“If you want to work in a company taking an active interest in tackling social issues that could marginalise minorities, I would recommend considering Simply Business as your next place to work for.  Gender imbalance in Tech is a complex issue and can have real repercussions on women who choose to make their careers in this sector.  Over the years Simply Business has been doing a lot of work to improve manager training, team communication, enable employees to look after their mental wellbeing, introduce a mentoring and coaching scheme and more.  This is a company that listens to the issues the employees raise and do its best to work together on a solution.  At every level of seniority, there is a genuine interest in wanting to build a better place to work for everybody."

STEM ambassadors

“Simply Business enables and encourages employees to give back to their community, and one opportunity for this is coming a STEM Ambassador. I joined stem.org.uk as an Ambassador in early 2020, and my work so far has been extremely rewarding: I have worked with students directly in school career networking events; I have delivered full lessons to a secondary school about Cyber Security; and I have created content for schools to use to encourage young people into STEM subjects.”

Mental Health Network

Laura Blackwell

Senior Cyber Security Analyst

“Good mental health is taken seriously at Simply Business. We have a solid support structure in place and are constantly improving our understanding of what people need to thrive at work. I'm proud to lead the group of engaged members of staff who make up the Mental Health Group."
